  8. I am reading The Landry News by Andrew Clemens. If I had to be someone in my story I would be Cara Landry. I like Cara because she is a nice girl with a large personality. Cara and I are alike because Cara and I both like telling the truth. I think Cara will be a newspaper reporter when she grows up because she writes a newspaper called THe Landry News and she loves it and is very good at it. I had a great time reading this book and I am glad I chose Cara.

  9. Mrs. Granger is my favorite character in Frindle. I love how she got Nick famous and rich, even if she pretended to be the bad guy. She has a smart job for teaching kids to learn and respect each other. She also helps learn the big dictionary! She is a great language arts teacher. I think Mrs. Granger should be teacher of the year.

  16. I am reading "No Talking". My favorite character in the book is Lindsey. I like Lindsey because she is a big story teller and she likes to talk to her friends. She is similar to me because I like to talk to my friends a lot! When Lindsey grows up I think she should be an actor so she could talk to all her friends.

  17. I’m doing the Landry News for my literature circle reading. I like Cara Landry because it seems like she has the same humor as me. She is very similar to me because when I set my mind to something, I’m not letting it go, and that’s exactly what she did when her mom told her to stop writing newspapers, but she didn’t. I think Cara Landry should grow up to be a news reporter because that’s usually what her mind is settled on, and that’s exactly what she wants to do, a news reporter!!!

Zoe read the book and it was so great she convinced Natalie to publish it. I am similar to Zoe because I am a good supporter to all my friends. I think Zoe would make a great teacher or counselor because those jobs help and support people.

  24. My Literature circle is reading The School Story . In this book, my favorite character is the main character, Natalie. She is brave and she loves to write stories just like me. I like her for all of her caring, like not hurting people’s
feelings. Natalie is already an author, but when she grows up, she will be an even better one because she published her first book at 12 years old. This might be one of my favorite books!!

  25. This month I am reading a book called No Talking written by Andrew Clements. My favorite character in the book is Dave Packer. The reason he is my favorite character is because he stands up for himself in very hard situations. For example, he and his friend had a contest that all the 5th grade students would only speak 3 words in a row. At the end of the competition the one who spoke the most words would get a giant L on their forehead. So when he was having lunch, the principal wanted him to talk like he usually did but he refused, and this is the way he stood up for his rights. The way Dave Packer and I are similar is that we can make friends easily and are good students. I think he will be the president because he showed lots of leadership qualities and he was honest about how less he talked when nobody was watching.

  26. I am reading ‘A Week in the Woods’ for my lit circles. My favorite character is Mark Chelmsley, because he learns a lesson, not to be a spoiled brat in school. What I learned from the book is you’ll miss out on the fun in school if you are a spoiled brat. Mark finds out being inside and sitting there doing nothing isn’t as fun as exploring out in the woods after school. Mark is similar to me because we both learned that being inside your house doing nothing isn’t as important as exploring in your backyard. I think when Mark grows up he will be an explorer because he loves to explore in his backyard.
