I think it was important to leave the island because soon the wild dogs and other animals and critters will do more damage than they are now, and it was also important to leave the island because the animals may be so hungry that they might eat everything in sight while in packs so it would be harder to kill them and they will the tribe.

I am answering questions 1 and 3. (Question 1) I think that krana will stay on the island becaus the ship has not come for a long time and if the peaple on the ship are not friendly then they may not come back for karana. (Question 3). I think the white ship took the tribe to the mainland of Calfornia. If the people on the white ship are friendly and know Kimki, then they may come to get Karana, If they are not friendly then they may not come. I think they are friendly and will come.

In her former life I think she misses her tribe, father,and her brother the most. First, she lost her father in a battle against the Aluets, and then she was going to go to another island but her brother was left behind so she dove into the water and went back.After that, her brother Ramo went out by himself without her knowing and got killed by the wild dogs.

(question 2)I think Karana misses all the people in her tribe but probably her brother and her father the most.She probably misses everything from her former life because she feels very lonely because she's stranded there all alone on the island of the blue dophins.(question 3)I think the white ship took everyone to Santa Katalina where Matisaip went so they could make a new home there.I think the ship might not come back for her for a while. But her sister Ulape probably noticed she was gone so she probably told the captain of the ship but he probably didn't listen to her because he didn't listen to Karana when she told him.

I think Matasaip didn't wait for Ramo because it was a stormy night and it was a little dangerous to go back to the island. But, I think it would have been a better choice to turn back and save Ramo, and risk staying on the island one more night than to lose Ramo and risk getting lost at sea in the storm.

#4 Matasaip could not wait because the storm was coming and the ship would end up stuck on shore. Matasaip was being reasonable when he said he could not wait a few minutes. There was a storm coming so he couldn`t wait or the ship would wash up on shore. #5 They all had to leave the island because a storm was coming, and they didn`t have good enough shelter. Their chief was where they were planning to go, and the other place might have better resources.

I think that Karana will stay stranded on the island for alot longer because the ship should have come in good weather such as the summer now the ship might not come intill next summer.But Her situation might change if she uses one of the hidden canoes to paddle to the island Kimki discovered and then she would be a little bit happier being with the rest of her tribe.

Question 2) I could imagine she misses her family the most because her sister went on the ship with the white men, both her dad and brother died and they were very dear to her. I think this because it said in the book that Karana was badly hurt when her dad and brother died.
