I think the most interesting thing we did today was making candles and roping the bull. the reason that i liked it so much because you half to go really fast and really consintrate
The most interesting part of the field trip for me was when we made bricks. In the olden days I thought they didn't make things like bricks because it seemed too hard. Little did I know, the materials would be easy to find because they were sand, water, soil and straw. I really was fascinated by the straw being used to make bricks. I found today to be one of the most interesting field trips we've taken.
I loved grinding the corn and making a tortilla. This is a tradition in my family and I was happy to learn how to do it myself. I liked eating it too. I also liked making candles and bricks and dressing up in the old vaquero clothes. This was an awesome field trip!
My favorite part of our field trip was getting a tour of the inside of the house. I enjoyed this because it was interesting to see how they made things out of the world around them. I thought it was really cool how they had one bedroom for seventeen children. My favorite part of the bedroom was the cradle because I really liked the rabbit fur inside it. It was so soft! I also liked all the shiny abalone shells. Lastly I liked how they used cow horns for drinking cups. E.W.
I thought the most interesting thing we learned at Peralta Adobe was how the people had to go all the way to the ocean to collect abalone shells every spring just to layer their houses and check for cracks. -S.R.
I liked making the bricks because you got to see how long it would take to make 2,500 bricks. It took that many bricks to make a house.I also liked how we got to put our hands in the mud or muck or whatever its called! It was fun!
The most interesting part of the Peralta Adobe was when we got to dress up in the same clothes that the Peraltas would of wore. It made me feel like I was there at that time. The thing that surprised me most was that one way of making great tasting tea was adding mint to hot sugar water. Now days, we use tea bags to give the water flavor. All of the stations were fun and they all made me feel like I wasn’t in the 21st century.
I like JO’s comment because if grinding corn and making tortillas was my family’s tradition, I would have felt like I was learning about the history of my family instead of learning about the Peralta Adobe.
The most interesting thing that I learned on the field trip yesterday was how to build a brick. I thought this was interesting because I never knew built a brick before. J.C.
I thought that the most interesting thing at the Peralta Adobe was the food making station. I enjoyed making the corn tortilla. I did not know how much effort it took to make a tiny corn tortilla. It was a great feild trip.
I thought the most interesting thing I learned on the feild trip was how they made the adobe bricks. Like someone else said, I never thought that there would be bricks back then and I was fascinated about the recipe to make them. S.Z.A
For me, the most interesting part of the field trip was when we made bricks, because I didn't know that we made brick out of dirt, sand, wooden frames, the river, bowls, and stuff. I thought bricks were made out of that thing people use for road.
The most interesting thing I learned on this field trip was making tortillas and tea. It was interesting because I never knew how to make tortillas and was fun making them.
I think the most interesting thing that I learned on the field trip was how hard it was to make tortillas, teas, and bread because I can't imagine how many tortillas, teas, and bread they had to make for a village and how long it would take to make them all.
I liked the Peralta Adobe, because I have never seen a house so old before. I also liked it because it had unique items like a baby's cradle made out of rabbit fur and a chair made out of whale bones. J.F.
I enjoyed the brands, candles, and cow roping station.I liked making the brands because it was basically art and I love art! I thought the candles were interesting because 200 years ago they wre made out of cow blubber, and because you got to see how long it would take to make enough candles to light a room up. I liked the cow roping because I'm always up for a challenge!
I think that the most interesting part was looking and going into the house because they actually had a baby crib. to me the baby crib looked more comftoable than the parents bed.
I think the most intresting thing in our class field trip was the dolls, if I were to live back then I think I would be very bored if the only toy I had was the doll. I think that the funest part was lassoing the bull it was easy from close up but if you were far away that would be hard. I was very surprised that the tea and tortias were both so simple to make but both delicious.
I think that the most interesting thing about the Peralta adobe house is that two other companies used it not knowing that it was a piece of history. I learned that the two companies were a winery and a plumber and they started their businesses after the Peraltas moved out.

SNC - I think it would also be hard to lasso a bull if it were moving!
