A. Billie Wind's father suggested that once the Earth became too
polluted, people would have to move to another planet. Tell whether you think this is a possible solution to Earth's environmental problems.
B. Why do you think it is important to the elders that the young retain their faith in the old beliefs?
C. Billie Wind wouldn't let her sister wave the 3 white heron feathers over her dugout canoe as she began her trip. What does this tell you about Billie? What might this event suggest (foreshadow) about the trip Billie was about to take?
A. Billie Wind's father suggested that once the Earth became too polluted, people would have to move to another planet. I think this is not possible because people can not get a life supply of food, oxygen, and water.

A. Billie Wind's father suggested that once the Earth became too polluted, people would have to move to another planet.I think it is possible affter a long time the Earth could pollute so that they would have to move to another planet. but you can not live on another planet because you do not have a ever-lasting amount of air and food. N.S.D
ReplyDeleteThe elders wanted the young to retain their faith in old beliefs because if they learn other beliefs then later they will tell their children and so on. It would become a whole different religion.
ReplyDeleteI.A.R.
I am doing question b. I think it was important to the elders that the young retain their faith in old beliefs because someday they will have their own childeren and if they do not believe their childeren probably won't and then their childeren won't and so on, and so on. And I think that the elderly do not want to lose their religous beleifs.
ReplyDeleteS.K.H.
I am doing question B. I think that the elders want the young to retain their beliefs so that when they grow up they can continue the same beliefs. If the young do not continue their beliefs the whole tribe will become different.
ReplyDeleteSNC
Dear I.A.R.,
ReplyDeleteI think also that the childeren usually beleive what their parents beleive, so if their parents do not beleive in their tribes beliefs then their childerens childeren would not believe and it would start new beliefs. It is kind of like a rumor, but instead of once the words come out they can't come back in it's once ones beliefs change they can't change back because others have already followed what they did.

Question A: I think that Billie Winds father is right about the earth getting too polluted someday, but I do not think that we could move to another planet. I think this because we could not breathe and there would not be enough food or water.
ReplyDeleteE.W.
Dear S.K.H.,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the elders wanted to keep their beliefs going because who wants to lose an old tradition.
E.W.
I think that the elders want kids to believe in the legends because then if they didn't then when they die and the kids take on the council they will effect tribal beliefs a war might start and then the tribe would be in danger.

Billie Wind's father suggested that once the Earth became too polluted, people would have to move to another planet. I disagree. Earth has every thing we need to live. No other planet has air, water, oxygen, food and life. We have to have these things to live. Some planets may have some water or oxygen but not enough for lots of people to survive.
ReplyDeleteJ.C.
I think that the elders want the young to retain their beliefs because they want to keep the beliefs ongoing. The beliefs are sacred to them and they want their children’s children to think the same way about the tribe, the animals and earth. If the children don’t pass it on, maybe someday they might have regretted it. Maybe the earth gets polluted even more, if the elder’s children passed on the beliefs, they might not have been in that situation. I would have wanted my beliefs to be passed on.

ReplyDeleteI agree that the elders would want their beliefs to stay alive for many generations.

A. Billy Winds father though the earth would get too polluted and people would have to move to another planet. I agree that the earth is getting too polluted but we can't move to a different planet. If we did move to a different planet we would not have oxygen to breath or food and water. We all should work together to help the earth from becoming too polluted.
ReplyDeleteK.A.M.
I agree with S.P because Its not possible to go to a different planet. You will have no food, water and life supply.
ReplyDeleteK.A.M.
Question A. Billie Wind's father suggested that once the earth was too polluted we would have to move to another planet. I think we might not be able to do that because if it takes 10 years to get to Pluto, how many years will it take to get to a planet out of our solar system with food, water, oxygen, and a sun? I don’t think we could get all the supplies for everyone on the planet either.
ReplyDeleteV.A.
I.A.R, I think that too. If the children didn't tell the beliefs the beliefs would stop.
ReplyDeleteV.A.
A. When Billie Wind's father said that one day the earth would get poluted and move to another planet is because one day on earth all living thing would have to leave because they can run out of oxygen or water. This was there beliefs.
ReplyDelete-S.R.
I aree with S.P. that they can run out of supplies.
ReplyDelete-S.R.
When Billie wouldn't let her sister wave the 3 white heron feathers over her dugout canoe as she began her trip, this tell me that she doesn't believe in the old believes that sounded silly. Because of this, I think she would have a harder time in her adventure.
ReplyDeleteZ.S.P.
N.S.D., I agree with you because there is no other planet that we know what have enough air , oxygen, and food to survive as we are on earth. Z.S.P.
ReplyDeleteA. Billie Wind's father said that when the earth became too polluted they would have to move to another planet. I don't think it's possible because there wouldn't be enough food, water, air, and oxygen on another planet that we know of right now. I would hope people would keep our planet clean and prevent pollution so we would be able to stay where we are.
ReplyDeleteS.G.P.A.
S.N.C., I agree with you because I think the elders would want the young to retain their beliefs so that the tribe would continue believing the same thing for generations to come.
ReplyDeleteS.G.P.A.
I do not agree with Billie Wind's father. I do not believe that the earth will become so polluted that people will move to another planet. I believe we take care of the earth better than ten years ago. The cars don't have as much pollution. We recycle more than ever. For example, every home has three bins for recycling. I also think we could not last on another planet.

question #C
ReplyDeleteI think that by the question that billie wind does not believe in her culture and did not let her sister wave the feathers over her canoe and that means she would have a not very safe trip. so far because she did not get the feathers waved over canoe she is not getting very good luck. we haven't read a lot of the book yet I do knot know for sure if that statement is true.
No, I don't believe that if the Earth were to polluted,we would be able to move to another planet. First, scientist have not found a planet we could live on.Second, we don't have the technology to find a planet to live on or a way to get there. We may be able to create a space station on a nearby planet or the moon but we all wouldn't get to go.We should just fix our problems here on Earth instead of running away from the problem.
ReplyDeleteM.H
A) I do not think it would be a possible solution because there is not life on other planets. I also think it is true that earth will be too polluted some day. Another way they can save earth is by setting fewer fires.
ReplyDeleteJ.F.
A. Billie Winds father suggested that once the earth became too polluted, people would have to move to another planet. I think this is both possible and not possible. Because it is possible that the earth will get polluted over time but if you have to move to another planet you may run out of water, oxygen and food.
ReplyDeleteJCK
I don't agree with you S.N.C. I think the kids should believe in what they want to believe in and carry on the tradition they believe in.
ReplyDeleteM.H
I denfinitly agree with you S.G.P.A.
ReplyDeleteJ.F.
Billie Wind doesn't believe in the animal gods
ReplyDeletewho talk or the little people that come and play
tricks on you. I think that she also doesn't believe
in the white heron feathers that give you good luck
because in the story when her sister tried to wave
the white heron feathers above her head, she refused.
My judgement about her is that she had a lot of bad luck
on the island.
By T.A.H
Question A. I think it is not a possible solution beacuase there is no plaanet with plant life of oxegen close enough to go to that we know of. We could not servive if we went there. I really hope it will not come to that much polution. S.Z.A
ReplyDeleteZ.S.P, I agree with you. I think she may have a harder time on her trip and she has already had misfortune with the fire. S.Z.A
ReplyDeleteA.Billie Wind’s Father suggested that once the Earth has became too polluted, people would have to move to another planet. I think that this solution will not to solve Earth’s environmental problems because One, we wouldn’t be able to breath because there would be no oxygen. Two, we would not be able to grow crops and gardens with fruits and vegetables that we eat. Three, we wouldn’t get to build houses and other buildings on a different planet because they would be flying around in space because there would be no gravity.
ReplyDeleteB. That is why I think that moving to a different planet would not solve Earth’s environmental problems.
S.Z.
I agree with K.A.M. that the Earth is getting too polluted and that we should all work together to stop the earth from getting too polluted.
ReplyDeleteS.Z.
(question B.)
ReplyDeleteI think it is important that the younger remains to have faith in the old beliefs, because maybe someday the elder beliefs will be right and the younger beliefs will be wrong.
I.T.
Q A
ReplyDeleteBillie was changed because she she started to respect the nature a little bit but she still was pretty much the. She did like petang though so toughs are the ways she change
I think it is important that the young retain their faith in the old beliefs because it keeps their heritage alive. The stories and religion define who they are and keeps them connected to their past. Carrying on these beliefs is important for history too.
ReplyDeleteJ.O.
A. If the Earth is polluted, then we would need to either move to another planet(If one that life exists is found)or plant a lot more trees. We have to cut down our greenhouse gases and protect our Earth. It is possible if we make Mars hotter and get oxygen there. Otherwise, the other planets are too far.
ReplyDeleteM. w.
Billie wind had different belief so then the elders did not want her to grow up and change their tribes beliefs. They want her believe in the tribes beliefs.
ReplyDeleteDMM
If people moved to a different planet when the Earth became too polluted, the other planet will also become polluted. People need to clean up the Earth. There are many ways in which things can be done to help our planet. RB
