  1. Billy Wind goes through a lot in these two chapters. She lets cooottchobee go live with the wild panthers. That is hard for her to do but,she accepts.

  7. India’s independence was an important event in my heritage. India fought against the British for independence. Mahatma Gandhi told Hindus (Indians) to only buy Indian stuff. They also didn’t pay the British taxes. Mahatma Gandhi fought with words, not weapons.

  8. I have learned to not talk in class when I am not supposed to. When I do, I learn my lesson
by feeling guilty. Then, I give myself a reminder
to be quite for the next time.

  9. I learned that nature can be very beautiful. Every year I go to Palm Springs and I take a hike called the Oasis. It is dry in some parts, but damp in others. It shows me that all the animals are interdependent. They need each other, especially plants. We all need plants. It also makes me think of how I can make more places like the Oasis, healthy and living. It taught me to save more of nature’s beauty.

  10. In chapters 6 and 7 she finds out a lot about herself, her heritage or culture, and the world. On of the things I learned about my family’s culture is that we believe that anything that is living has the right to live.

My great great uncle was one of the people who built the Continental Railroad tracks. That is so awesome. I am proud of this because it is great that someone I am related to was part of our cool history.

  16. On Saturday I realized that you can really get the job done if you work together. We were working together with my cousins to plant flowers at my grandpa's house to get it ready for the funeral. It comforted me to be with the people I love at sad times.

  24. I learned that I had three sets of grandparents once my mom married my step dad. I was only 2 years old, but I knew how lucky. Who has that many grandparents? I was so excited because now I get more family and I have a great family story to tell. It affected me in such a good way because I can learn so much from all of them and their lives and heritage.

  25. When I went to Minnesota with my grandpa and grandma I met my cousins, aunts and uncles, and my great grandma. As soon as they met  me they gave me a big hug. It was fun getting to know them by playing Uno. I felt special because I knew they all loved me. I also felt grown up because I was older than all my cousins. I met my little cousins that I didnt even know I had. My grandpa and I went on the biggest roller coaster I had ever seen at the Mall of America! But my most favorite part was seeing my great grandma. It was really special when we went to her apartment and wrapped presents. From that moment on I realized there is nothing more important than family.

  27. The other day I learned that it’s easy to get distracted but hard to stay focused. For this lesson I learned the hard way. Now I know that when I’m doing something important I should just ignore the things and the people around me.
